Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates to engage in discussions centered on regional security, with a focus on the ongoing conflict involving Iran and developments in Gaza and Lebanon. This visit marks Fidan’s second trip to the UAE since March, highlighting the growing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
The talks are anticipated to cover a range of issues, including preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council. A key point of discussion is expected to be the importance of enhancing regional cooperation to address conflicts and minimize external interventions. Fidan will also emphasize the necessity of maintaining freedom of navigation through crucial maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which are vital for both regional and international trade.
Significant attention will also be given to the situation in Gaza. Türkiye and the UAE are expected to deliberate on the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan, as well as efforts related to humanitarian assistance and reconstruction. Both nations are founding members of the Board of Peace and are likely to coordinate closely on its initiatives.
Additionally, the two countries will discuss maintaining ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, aiming to bolster regional stability. The talks reflect the ongoing strategic partnership between Türkiye and the UAE, established in 2023, with their High-Level Strategic Council having its inaugural leaders’ meeting in Ankara in July 2025.
Economic ties between the two nations are significant, with bilateral trade reaching $19.346 billion in 2025, positioning the UAE as Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf region. This economic relationship is expected to provide a strong foundation for further diplomatic engagements and cooperative efforts in addressing regional challenges.
