Qatar and Turkiye have successfully advanced peace efforts between Afghanistan and Pakistan through a new round of mediation talks held in Istanbul from October 25 to 30. The discussions focused on solidifying the ceasefire that both nations agreed to earlier this month in Doha.
All sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the truce and agreed to establish a joint monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure compliance and impose penalties on any party that breaches the agreement. A principal-level meeting is scheduled for November 6 in Istanbul to finalize the operational details of these measures.
Qatar expressed gratitude to Turkiye for hosting the talks and playing an active diplomatic role in supporting regional peace and stability.
