Türkiye celebrated Teachers’ Day with nationwide ceremonies, reaffirming the country’s dedication to strengthening its education system. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended a central ceremony in Ankara, where the government announced the appointment of 15,000 new teachers as part of its long-term investment in the nation’s future workforce.
In his address, President Erdoğan highlighted the essential role teachers play in shaping students’ knowledge, character, and values. He emphasized the importance of adapting education to rapid technological change, particularly as young people increasingly grow up in digital environments. He urged educators and families to work together to guide students effectively, noting that preparing children for the world they will inherit is a shared responsibility.
Erdoğan also outlined significant progress made in Türkiye’s education sector over the past two decades. Education has been prioritized in the national budget, leading to major increases in classrooms, teacher appointments, and improvements in student-to-teacher ratios. He noted that class sizes have been reduced dramatically and enrollment rates across all education levels have risen, surpassing international benchmarks in several categories.
While acknowledging ongoing challenges, the president emphasized that Türkiye has made historic strides in educational development and remains committed to further strengthening the teaching profession and learning environment for future generations.
