Türkiye to Host Muslim Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on U.S.-Led Gaza Peace Plan

Türkiye will host a meeting of foreign ministers from Muslim-majority countries to discuss the U.S.-led Gaza peace initiative, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Friday. The talks, to be held in Istanbul, will bring together top diplomats from Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Fidan said the session aims to review progress made so far and explore next steps in supporting peace efforts. He emphasized that the meeting will address key challenges, such as implementation obstacles and future coordination with Western partners and the United States.

The Turkish minister accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of seeking excuses to undermine the ceasefire in Gaza and resume attacks. He also noted that Türkiye’s 81-member disaster response team remains at the border awaiting Israeli approval to enter Gaza for humanitarian operations.

Fidan added that Ankara is in talks about possibly joining an international force to monitor the ceasefire, although Israel has opposed Türkiye’s participation, citing strained relations.
