Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan voiced optimism following a high-level meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and leaders of several Muslim-majority nations on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York. The talks centered on the ongoing crisis in Gaza and efforts to ease the humanitarian situation.
“We have concluded a very productive and positive meeting. I am pleased with the meeting,” Erdoğan told reporters, adding that a joint declaration would soon be announced. The Turkish leader’s remarks suggested progress in building consensus on a path forward.
President Trump also emphasized the importance of the discussions, saying the U.S. would work closely with regional partners to address the crisis. “We’re going to talk about Gaza. We’re going to see if we can do something about it. We want to stop that. We want to get our hostages back, or their hostages back,” Trump said.
The White House confirmed that the meeting brought together leaders from Türkiye, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, underscoring the broad regional engagement in seeking solutions to the Gaza conflict.
