TOKYO – Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. has formally announced the establishment of its first Okura Resort property in Japan, located in Hakone Gora, a distinguished hot spring destination. The initiative follows the execution of a comprehensive operational management agreement with Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd. on July 11, 2025.
The Okura Resort Hakone Gora, projected for completion in 2029, represents a strategic expansion into one of Japan’s most visited regions, attracting approximately 20 million visitors annually. The development will leverage Hakone’s renowned geothermal resources and topographical advantages while embodying Hotel Okura’s signature omotenashi hospitality philosophy.

The architectural concept, designated “Forest Hideaway” and executed by designer Gwenael Nicolas, encompasses 58 premium guest accommodations. Design specifications include private outdoor thermal baths in each room, utilizing authentic Owakudani Hot Spring waters. Additional facilities comprise extensive indoor bathing complexes, a teppanyaki-focused culinary venue, and an executive bar lounge, collectively establishing a premium hospitality destination.
