Türkiye has expressed strong disapproval of the recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Syria, condemning the attacks as violations of Syria’s sovereignty and a potential threat to regional stability. The Turkish Foreign Ministry highlighted that the assaults on regions in Quneitra and Daraa infringe upon Syria’s territorial integrity and contravene both international law and the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement.
The Turkish government cautioned that these military actions could exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation in the area, endanger civilian lives, and disrupt ongoing efforts to bring stability back to Syria. In response to the strikes, Turkish officials have urged the international community to intervene and emphasized the importance of preventing further attacks that might escalate tensions in the region.
Burhanettin Duran, Türkiye’s Communications Director, also criticized the Israeli operations, asserting that they jeopardize Syria’s security and undermine initiatives aimed at achieving long-term peace in the war-torn nation. Türkiye’s stance underscores its commitment to supporting Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, which it views as essential components of broader regional security.
In light of the situation, Türkiye has called for collaborative international efforts to maintain peace and prevent further military confrontations in Syria. The Turkish government continues to advocate for diplomatic solutions, stressing that respect for national borders and legal agreements is crucial for fostering stability and peace in the Middle East.
