Erdoğan highlighted the challenge people face in distinguishing fact from perception as digital platforms gain more influence in shaping how information is shared.
Erdoğan emphasized that the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and communication technologies have not only transformed the way information is disseminated but have also facilitated the spread of disinformation. He warned that social media’s power to mold public thought, interpret events, and even alter historical narratives poses potential threats to cultural values and social cohesion.
The Communication Council, Erdoğan noted, is an initiative aimed at developing Türkiye’s future communication strategy. It seeks to bring together a diverse group of participants, including government officials, academics, media representatives, and civil society experts, to enhance public communication policies that align with the country’s long-term vision. The event is part of a broader effort to address these emerging challenges and reinforce the integrity of information.
In his address, Erdoğan also touched on the legal proceedings surrounding the Ahbap charity. He mentioned that authorities are actively investigating individuals accused of misusing public trust following the earthquakes in 2023, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable through the legal system.
