Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Ankara has distinguished itself by becoming a finalist in the World’s Best School Prizes, an international competition celebrating schools for their innovative approaches and positive societal impacts. Founded in 2017, this Turkish high school is among the top 10 contenders in the Environmental Action category, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and renewable energy education.
The school’s curriculum is rich with renewable energy content, allowing students hands-on experience with actual energy systems. This practical approach extends to analyzing energy data, honing their skills in reducing carbon footprints, and optimizing energy efficiency. A cornerstone of their educational offerings is the Energy Detectives Project, which educates middle school students on the importance of minimizing carbon emissions, conserving energy, and reducing waste. Through this initiative, students actively monitor and work to decrease energy and water use in their schools.
Beyond its educational endeavors, the school has also made significant contributions to disaster relief. It has developed an energy bank aimed at providing electricity to temporary shelters in the aftermath of earthquakes, demonstrating a broader application of its expertise in renewable energy.
Collaboration extends beyond the classroom, as the school partners with Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. This partnership enhances students’ learning experiences by offering practical training and laboratory support, further enriching their understanding and application of green technologies.
The World’s Best School Prizes, organized by T4 Education, acknowledge excellence in schools across five categories. As the competition progresses, the international public can cast their votes for the finalists until the end of October, determining which schools will ultimately be recognized for their outstanding contributions.
